Internship Program 2023

Csendike Somogyvári

Placement: Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC), Washington D.C.: February 17 – May 17, 2023

At VOC, Csendike was a Development and Coalitions & Fellowship Programs intern. Her major projects included event organization, donor management, and searching for prospective partner organizations. The internship program also provided her an opportunity to meet with prominent leaders, researchers, and thinkers across the world who take to heart the plight of communities oppressed by communist regimes. She met people with diverse backgrounds, touching life stories but one thing in common: the will to create awareness on the impact of living under totalitarian regimes.

“The responsibilities I had at VOC enriched not only my professional but my interpersonal skillset as well. Whether I was involved in professional or team-building activities, I was proud to be part of this organization and the community that make it possible to bring together people who believe in the spirit of democracy, independence, and freedom”.

Csendike Somogyvári obtained her graduate degree in International Relations from Corvinus University Budapest (Budapest, Hungary) in 2019. She also holds a master’s degree in Theatrology at Károli Gáspár University (Budapest, Hungary). Csendike is currently enrolled in a PhD program at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest, Hungary). Throughout her university studies, Csendike aimed to supplement her theoretical knowledge with practical experience, so she pursued an internship at the Commercial Department of the Danish Embassy in Hungary, among others. She has a solid professional experience from the corporate sector as well, she was a treasury intern at Erste Bank Hungary Ltd. in 2017, she worked as a market analyst at the Central European Gas Exchange Ltd. in Budapest, and she was a marketing coordinator at FORD Europe LLd.
