Creative Cultural Exchange Inc. Donates Medical Supplies to Aid Ukraine Refugees Through Award-Winning weCARE Project

Washington, DC – Minnesota-based Creative Cultural Exchange, Inc. has donated a fresh collection of medical supplies to aid refugees from Ukraine. The medical aid is currently being shipped to Hungarian Interchurch Aid, which will distribute it.

The donation, collected from a trauma center in Minneapolis, includes 470 boxes of medical and other basic care supplies. Most of the supplies are unopened and unexpired; the opened and expired supplies will be used for educational purposes. The estimated value of the donated products is approximately $200,000. The Hungarian American Coalition (Coalition) contributed $4,000 to cover the container’s shipment costs from the United States to Hungary.

Creative Cultural Exchange, Inc., a member of the Coalition, is a 501(c) non-profit organization committed to promoting innovative cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration between the United States, Hungary, and other countries in Central and Eastern Europe. Its award-winning weCARE Medical Donation Program collects, organizes, and ships medical supplies to hospitals throughout Hungary and regions with Hungarian minorities, mainly in Transylvania (Romania) and Subcarpathia (Ukraine).

Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA) provides immediate assistance to refugees through its comprehensive relief program. HIA is officially registered in Ukraine (Kiev) and operates nationwide, with additional centers in Berehovo and Lviv. HIA’s rapid and coordinated response is based on their 25 years of experience in the region, which also included COVID relief operations (hospital supplies, ventilator deliveries). A cooperation agreement with the Governor of Transcarpathia and close collaboration with local partners help to ensure that donations reach their intended destination. More information on HIA activities is available here.

Since February 26, the Coalition has disbursed $96,500 in humanitarian assistance to refugees from war-torn Ukraine. More information of the supported organizations and initiatives are available herehere and here.
