Partners with Member Organizations American Hungarian Foundation and HungarianHub
The Coalition is proud to announce the publication of the inaugural Hungarian American Community Yearbook for the year 2020. This new initiative was a partnership between the Coalition and member organizations: American Hungarian Foundation and HungarianHub.
The Yearbook provides a summary of the unprecedented challenges of 2020 and how the Hungarian American community as a whole responded with new and innovative community activities and resources. It is divided among sections: Churches, Schools, Organizations, Community Houses, Cultural Initiatives and Honorary Consuls.
The Yearbook is comprised of reports from 72 organizations, who created their own pages. The initiative was publicized for many months across the community and was open to anyone who submitted. In an effort to allow everyone to participate, design assistance was offered for all organizations by Melissa Katko Pepin, AHF Executive Director, who offered help with the Canva application and ReConnect Hungary, who made their alumni available to help organizations create submissions. The Yearbook was published in English.
“We all felt it was important to record what happened in our community in 2020, because there was such incredible outreach and so many new online resources created. We all saw the value in ensuring there would be a physical, long-term record that would remain 10-20-30 years into the future,” said Lauer Rice, Coalition President and US President of the Hungarian Diaspora Council.
The 2020 Yearbook is available to view digitally at www.ahfoundation.org. Individual copies can also be printed through LuLu.com.
The three organizations are planning to work together to make the Yearbook an annual publication.
