Washington, D.C. – Over the last two months, the Coalition has welcomed two new interns to the John N. Lauer Leadership Training Program (LTP) at the Washington D.C. office.
The LTP was established to provide young Hungarian Americans and English-speaking Hungarians from Hungary and neighboring countries firsthand experience at Washington-based institutions. The goal is to prepare participants for public service in their home country and provide the opportunity to build professional contacts in the U.S. There are more than 105 program alumni to date.
On August 25, 2025, Kristóf Jakab Horpácsy began his internship at the Coalition. Kristóf will deepen his knowledge of U.S. political and economic systems, attend lectures and major events, such as the World Bank Annual Meeting, and assist in organizing and hosting the Coalition’s Annual Gala and Mikulás Dinners. Interested in the Hungarian diaspora, Kristóf plans to join the local Hungarian Scouts Troop and participate in organizational tasks, strengthening his understanding of Hungarian traditions and history. Kristóf’s goal is to start building a meaningful network, add to his global experience and prepare for university. Following LTP, Kristóf will start International Relations studies at the University of Szeged.

On September 13, Ágoston Nóll-Cséke joined the Coalition as an LTP intern. Ágoston is in the final year of his bachelor’s program at Péter Pázmány Catholic University and intends to complete his studies upon returning to Hungary. He is deeply interested in American political institutions and history, focusing on the Civil War and Civil Rights Movements for his thesis. In Washington, D.C., Ágoston will engage with experts, attend lectures and key events, and contribute to the Coalition’s Annual Gala and Mikulás Dinners. He hopes this experience will expand his network and knowledge base and enrich his perspective on global political science by experiencing it firsthand.

Kristóf and Ágoston will participate in the internship for four months, concluding in December and January, respectively.
LTP is the flagship leadership development program of the Coalition, established in 2005. Following the success of the White House (1996 – 2004) and Congressional Internship Programs (2005 – 2018), LTP has the goal of bringing English-speaking Hungarians from Hungary, the Carpathian Basin and the U.S., to gain first-hand work and life experience at Washington, DC-based institutions.
