
The Great Hall, Library of Congress – location for the upcoming America 250 Gala.
Washington, D.C. – The Hungarian American Coalition (Coalition) is proud to announce the America 250 Gala, a celebration of the semiquincentennial of America. The Gala will take place on April 27, 2026, at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and will focus on significant contributions made by Hungarian Americans. This historic event is organized in partnership with the American Hungarian Foundation and the Tulipan Foundation.
The Gala will be co-chaired by The Honorable George E. Pataki, former Governor of New York and Dr. Katrina Lantos Swett, President, Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice. The Gala will recognize outstanding Hungarian American achievements, including Dr. Charles Simonyi, high-tech pioneer, philanthropist, and space traveler and Dr. Katalin Karikó, Nobel Laureate, among others.
The celebration will showcase cultural performances, curated exhibits as well as several initiatives highlighting Hungarian American contributions, including:
- The America 250 Commemorative Book, highlighting Hungarian American contributions and their lasting impact on the United States;
- “Bridges of Greatness”, a series of documentary shorts exploring defining themes of Hungarian American excellence;
- the U.S. premiere of “The Martians” Exhibit, celebrating Hungarian innovators whose ideas shaped the modern world;
- and a display of “250 Stories of Migration for America 250” spotlighting the personal journeys that helped build America.

Proceeds from the Gala will benefit scholarship programs for young Hungarians, community legacy projects selected by the America 250 Gala Committee, and community grants.
