Event & Fundraising Intern Position
The Hungarian American Coalition (HAC), founded in 1991 to mobilize Hungarian American talents for community interests, seeks a dynamic Intern for 30 hours/week over 3 months. Focus on our America 250 Gala (April 27, 2026, Library of Congress), scholarships, HYPE Network recruitment. Competitive compensation stipend for 3 months; in-person at Dupont Circle office.
About HAC & Programs
HAC promotes Hungarian American bonds through events like the America 250 Gala, scholarships/internships, and the John N. Lauer Leadership Training Program (LTP) for young Hungarian Americans gaining DC experience. The HYPE Network builds emerging leaders. Gain hands-on nonprofit work in a historic organization aiding Hungary’s transition post-1989.
Responsibilities
- Support Gala: ticket sales via calls to Hungarian American/U.S. contacts; update website/social media with details.
- Assist scholarships: process applications, communications.
- Recruit/manage HYPE Network participants; coordinate with LTP interns.
- Fundraising: individual and private sector donor outreach.
- Represent HAC at DC events/ government official outreach.
- Participate in potential U.S. travel opportunities for Coalition programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; nonprofit/event experience preferred.
- Strong phone/social media/website skills (e.g., WordPress, Facebook, Canva, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Hungarian preferred; passion for Hungarian American community essential.
- In-person at 2001 Massachusetts Ave NW, Dupont Circle, DC.

- Stipend commensurate with place of residence for a 3 month, 30 hrs/week appointment.
