
Katalin Pearman was born and educated in Budapest, Hungary and has lived in the Seattle area since 1985. Katalin graduated from the College for Foreign Trade in Budapest, majoring in foreign trade, English and German. Prior to moving to the US Katalin worked in the foreign trade and hotel industries. After moving to the US, her work experience included the American Cultural Exchange, where she was Director of the ACE Translation Center.
Over the past ten years Katalin has been a freelance translator, editor, proofreader and interpreter in the business, medical and legal fields. She is an active member of the American Translators Association (ATA), certified by ATA in the Hungarian to English language-pair. She was a long-time board member of the Northwest Translators and Interpreters Society (NOTIS), and the Hungarian American Association of Washington. She has been Honorary Consul of Hungary in Seattle, WA since 2016. She was awarded with a Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit (Magyar Érdemrend Lovagkersztje) in 2019 in recognition of her outstanding service of the Hungarian American community in Seattle.
