The Hungarian American Coalition proudly announces the successful completion of a transformative educational and community development initiative in Egyházasfalu, Hungary. Supported by a generous $200,000 grant from the Charles and Lisa Simonyi Fund for the Arts and Sciences, the project culminated in the renovation of the Károly Simonyi Primary School, now reopened as a modern center of learning.
The grant was distributed through the Foundation for the Simonyi Károly Elementary School and the Village’s Students, which has long supported the school and its mission to serve the youth of Egyházasfalu.

The newly revitalized school honors the legacy of Károly Simonyi, a distinguished physicist and educator born in Egyházasfalu, and father of Charles Simonyi. The renovation marks a significant milestone in improving educational infrastructure and opportunities for rural communities in Hungary.
“This project reflects our enduring commitment to promoting Hungarian culture and education,” said Zsolt Szekeres. “We are proud to partner with organizations that create lasting impact for future generations.”
The Hungarian American Coalition continues to foster strategic partnerships that empower communities and preserve Hungarian heritage through education, culture, and civic engagement.
