   In the January 7-8 edition of The Wall Street Journal, an art review by Willard Spiegelman, under the series Masterpiece: "Life and Death Distilled in Two Lines".
The masterpiece is "In a Station of the Metro" (1912) by Ezra Pound.

In the same issue a book review by Bartle Bull: "A Prison Without a Roof" 'The Russian exile system was the greatest sustained machine of evil in human history'
The book is  "The House of the Dead"  by Daniel Beer, Knopf, $35, 464 pages.

Also in the same edition, a report by Ben Zimmer: 'Persona non Grata': The Diplomatic Way to Say 'You're Unwelcome'
